A food importer with over a thousand products, each with its own lead time, kept running short of some lines while others expired on the shelf. BusinessWise now tells them what to order, how much, and when.
The problem
The company imports food from a single country and sells more than a thousand products. Every product has a different lead time, and many have a limited shelf life. Ordering was done by hand, from experience. Some products ran out while customers were asking for them. Others sat in the warehouse until they expired.
What we did
We set up BusinessWise on their sales, purchasing and inventory data. Its statistical models predict sales and stock levels for every product, adjusting for seasonality, spikes and each product’s lead time. It shows when to reorder and how much, and sends timely alerts when stock should be bought.
What changed
Sales went up, because products stopped running out. Waste went down, because stock stopped expiring, saving millions a year. And the team spends far less time working out what to order.
